What have you been up to, what have you been working on over the last year?
I had an opportunity to be a part of the visual direction for Australian Fashion Week 2021. I was involved in creating the digital environments for their runway show in 2021. I’ve always gotten very excited when I have the chance to be a part of an installation project with digital art.
Projects where digital artwork intersect with the physical world interest me, because it allows for a new dimension of reality to be explored with the medium.
Tell us a bit about your art practice and any key themes throughout your work.
As the pandemic has shifted focus, a lot of people have attempted to reconnect with our world that often feels overwhelming and disconnected – we lose a sense of self. I feel that we need to reconnect to our energy from within, and inspire a new way of being.
I’ve been exploring artwork that acts as a visual expression of new ways of being. I find inspiration from meditation, psychedelia and nature. My work explores the bending of these elements to express and reflect a state of stillness, calm and balance.
How have NFTs informed your art practice?
It’s exciting to see NFTs give new energy to digital artworks. I see NFTs as digital artifacts that collectors can connect to on a new level.
What attracted you about showcasing at Satellite?
I’m a big fan of David’s perspective and energy in the digital art space. When I heard about the gallery show he was developing, I knew it was going to be something special. There seems to be a lot of thought and care going into this project. I am grateful to be a part of this moment.
Can you tell us more about the story and inspiration behind your Satellite submission?
This collection is titled Aura Energy. The concept continues the exploration of the essence of nature. My work is looking through reality with a new perspective. Ultimately to inspire people to channel a peaceful and positive state of being.
Who/what are your biggest influences and where do you find your inspiration for your art?
Ambient environmental music like Hiroshi Yoshimura influenced me. Also, composition influences like Ikebana techniques, western still life paintings, psychedelic art and hippie ideologies also inspired me.
